Natalie and David’s Union Club wedding was a stunning example of the possibilities for weddings taking place during the holidays. It was just gorgeous, highlighted by all the Christmas decorations at the church and at the Union Club of Cleveland. With the Union Club being one of the most beautiful venues in the city, having it over flowing with lights and garland, made it an even more dream location.
Natalie and David met at The Ohio State University when they were both studying for their professional degrees. During their second year of Pharmacy and Dental school, David was social chair for OSU’s Inter-Professional Council and Natalie attended one of the bowling nights he had planned. They hit it off that night and remained friends for awhile before they went on their first date a year and a half later. Over the next two years, they graduated together, went on a backpacking trip around Europe together and moved to Chicago to start their careers.
David proposed to Natalie on November 17, 2017 when they traveled back to Columbus from Chicago for a home football game. He took her on a walk along the river downtown where he popped the question at sunset. Surprises and celebrations continued with both families joining for dinner and Cleveland and Columbus friends sharing in on an engagement party. I LOVE when the families are there to celebrate after the couple gets engaged!
So the wedding day began with Natalie and the girl’s preparations at the Union Club. What a beautiful location to photograph popping champagne, opening the groom’s gift and all the other preparations of the day! We even had the time for some beautiful bridal portraits before heading to the church. While I was photographing Natalie, John was at the Crown Plaza with David and the groomsmen. Playhouse Square is such a great location for everyone and especially as photographers! John took advantage of it and was able to photograph the guys with the cool Playhouse marquees .
The wedding ceremony was at Mary Queen of Peace in Cleveland. It was filled with bright colors which showcased Natalie’s stunning red floral arrangements. With the weather being rainy, we opted for locations that were inside as well as outside. David and Natalie were happy to venture around Cleveland to capture all that we could downtown. Once we made our way back to the Union Club and had a few moments before the cocktail hour was to be begin. So we photographed in their beautiful lobby with the wedding party and then headed upstairs to the festive reception.
The custom menus and place cards were held nicely in folded red napkins at each quest seat. The room was stunning and the band kept everyone dancing and singing all night! The final touch was the late night snack provided by Swenson’s right outside of the club! What a wonderful day! John and I love getting to know this sweet couple from their engagement in Chicago to this amazing wedding, we loved every minute! Thank you and Congratulations!
