Onesto Event Center Wedding |Matt & Ally

Matt and Ally’s wedding was held at the historic Onesto Event Center in Canton.  This is a beautiful location for weddings, with high ceilings, and lots of beautiful light as you enter.  Ally and Matt both had their wedding day prep in the bridal suites at the Onesto, with their “first look” right in the beautiful lobby.  We took advantage of this gorgeous space and photographed them and their wedding party there, before braving the cold and heading outside!  It’s always wonderful when the wedding venue has an awesome indoor option for photography, especially when it’s cold (or rainy) out and boy was it cold!  But, I’m so glad that they all were great sports and we managed to get a few pictures with the snow.

The wedding ceremony was held just around the corner at the Old Stone Chapel. Another historic location with pretty light fixtures and colors.  After the ceremony Matt and Ally got to ring the church bell, then we took a few pictures and headed back to the Onesto.

From Ally…

“We planned our wedding based on Matt’s rotation schedule, but it worked out that our wedding will be exactly 2 years from our first date. We met online through an app called Coffee meets bagel. It was the only app Ally forgot to go in and chance radius preferences for. So when she matched with Matt from Dayton, she was a little hesitant since he lived over an 1 hr away. She saw from his profile that he was fun, adventurous, and loved the Lord. So she gave it a shot. Matt was also unsure about the distance, but was impressed by Ally’s persistence to meet. Ally was hesitant to settle down in any other relationship before getting the chance to meet Matt. Matt was also unsure about the distance, and didn’t want to waste time driving back and forth on multiple dates to see if they were compatible. So, he asked a lot of very direct, detailed questions on their first date. To Matt’s surprise, Ally had the right answer to every one of his questions. He enjoyed himself so much that even kissed her goodnight after the first date, which he had never done on a first date before. Matt quickly realized Ally was with the over 1 hour drive. The rest was history. Matt and Ally fell hard and fast for each other. Matt had some delays in his proposal due to Covid, but planned a beautiful proposal at Navy Pier on weekend getaway with Matt’s cousin Andy and wife Bec, in Chicago.”

The reception was held in the “lobby ” of the Onesto (not the ballroom), since their attendance numbers (due to Covid) were a bit less.  This was actually wonderful because the space was gorgeous.  They had their first dance right in front of their sweetheart table and then the other dancing was safely spread out closer to the DJ.  The cake and sweets were in the grand space next to the lobby.  It had newly finished ‘flapper women’ paintings on the wall, with elegant moldings and mirrors.  After the main dances, the guest enjoyed the custom cocktail drinks that Matt and Ally had the bar serve up.  They were their own creations with the finest ingredients!  The bartended even said he had fun making them for everyone!  The evening ended with a fun game of “who’s shoe” and then just lots of laughs and conversation.  What a fun wedding to be part of.  Congratulations Matt and Ally! I know you are having a blast in Hawaii!
