Chris and Katie met at Ohio State University in Mortar Board Senior Honors Society and had been together for nearly 9 years! They made it through almost three years of dating long distance and got engaged in Washington DC on the Georgetown Waterfront in October 2021.  And that leads us to this day! Katie and Chris had their wedding preparations at the Cleveland Hyatt which is home to the beautiful Cleveland Arcade. We love photographing the anticipation as the bride & groom get ready for their long awaited day. Those moments between a bride and her parents, sisters or friends are unique to each bride and fun to capture!  I’m typically (well actually always, with the bride, if it’s not a same sex wedding) while John is with the groom and his groomsmen.

Katie and Chris had a “first look” where they saw each other before the wedding.  These are usually so sweet and really help with pre-wedding jitters!  With their hotel across the street from a small library garden (The Reading Garden), it was a great place for this.  Other than a few pigeons wanting to get in the pictures, it really was perfect timing and location!  From there we took in the views at Mall C, and then they wanted to have a bit of the Cleveland lakeshore in their photos and we really like the view of Cleveland from Voinovich Park so it was for sure on the list of locations. It’s a great  place for wedding pictures.  And of course they didn’t want to leave the park with out taking the obligatory CLEVELAND sign picture. From there we took a few pictures at another iconic location, the Jackknife Bridge in the Cleveland Flats.  It is right on the property of their wedding and reception venue The Music Box Supper Club. Again it made perfect sense to capture a few moments there! This location never gets old for wedding photos and any other type of portraits!  It takes on a different look depending on the time of day and we like to see if we can figure out something new with it!

So after some fun adventures around Cleveland, it was time for their outdoor rooftop ceremony at Music Box Supper Club.  The wedding ceremony was held looking over the river with Cleveland’s skyline just beyond.  It’s pretty and festive location for ceremonies. Following the ceremony was cocktail hour and the reception.  They ran with the music theme, with old records as their table numbers and guest book.  These fun details were perfect for the venue!
