This fall we photographed a beautiful couple in Canton, Ohio. This is the start of their story…..Meeting for the first time at a Charlotte Checkers hockey game, Julianne and Chase began a friendship that would grow to be something much greater. Julianne, born in Pittsburgh, PA and raised in Canton, OH, found her way to Charlotte, NC while pursuing a career that led her on a path of adventure. After spending some time living in Mississippi, North Carolina, and Ohio, she finally landed back in Charlotte. It was here that her introduction to Chase, born and raised in/around Charlotte, would turn into a true connection that was full of fun adventures and plenty of laughs. It was on one of these adventures, a light hearted camping trip with some friends, that their relationship became official. As time went on, the relationship grew stronger as families were introduced and holiday time was shared. One day, Julianne and Chase took a stroll to a little jewelry store in South End to “do some shopping.” Some time passed, conversations were had, secret plans were made, and a fall apple orchard date was set. Little did Julianne know, this date would turn into one of the happiest days of both of our lives. The day at the orchard was coming to an end when Chase had one more thing to do: get their picture taken in the apple trees. Surprise! Julianne said yes and the excitement was buzzing! But that wasn’t all… As we approached where Julianne thought was the final turn home, another surprise was waiting nearby. Julianne and Chase’s families had gathered in secret at a local restaurant and lounge so that we could all celebrate the new engagement together and cap off a truly exciting moment.
Chase & Julianne’s wedding day began for us at her parent’s home. Filled with beautiful morning sunlight, I loved this location for morning preparation pictures! Her first look with her father began with her descending the staricase into a very sweet moment between her and her father, as well as her family and friends that were looking on! As everyone was set to leave we captured a few pictures of Julianne and with her family and the bridesmaids inside as well as the front porch. After all it was a beautiful day!
Meanwhile John was photographing Chase and the groomsmen back at the Double Tree Canton. Then after a few group shots downtown they all made their way to the ceremony location, Christ the Servant Parish. The priest was a close family friend (possibly actually family) and gave a wonderful, personal message to the bride and groom. We appreciated that they allowed us as photographers, to photograph on the sides of the altar, in order to really catch those great expressions! The ceremony ended with my favorite, waving ribbon wands!
The formal portraits began at the McKinley National Monument, where the parents and family joined in for some more relaxed group photos at a location other than the church. This trend has become increasingly popular with many of our weddings lately. After the monument, Chase and Julianne chose a few fun spots around the venue for additional portraits. Each location offered a unique backdrop and gave us a variety of beautiful looks—while still leaving them plenty of time to greet guests during cocktail hour!
The reception space was stunning, filled with hundreds of white florals and elegant gold chargers that added the perfect contrast to the tables. And speaking of tables… their cookie table was truly what brides dream of—beautifully arranged plates of every cookie imaginable, complete with subtle wedding-themed touches.
The reception began with a playful cake cutting, followed quickly by a packed dance floor that never slowed down. Guests enjoyed every moment! And when the late-night snack rolled out—fresh, hot pizza—everyone dove right in.
As the night drew to an end, it was clear the day had been nothing short of beautiful-made even more special by the wonderful couple at the center of it all! Congratulations again Chase & Julianne!
